Martifer SGPS, SA (‘Martifer’) informs about the award to its subsidiary West Sea Estaleiros Navais, Unipessoal, Lda. (‘West Sea’) of a contract for the construction of 4 (four) Polar Expedition vessels (Ice Class of the EXPLORER series) by Mystic Cruises in the total expected amount of 286.7 million Euros.

The Polar Expedition vessels of the EXPLORER series are Cruise Class and will be built based on the Polar Code (ice class) and equipped with a hybrid propulsion system. Each one will have the capacity to accommodate 200 passengers and 112 crew members, with the highest quality and comfort standards. These vessels are part of Mystic Cruises'expansion plan in the international luxury cruise segment. These four new vessels will join WORLD EXPLORER (already in operation), and WORLD VOYAGER and WORLD NAVIGATOR (both under construction), thus totalling a fleet of 7 vessels in this range that prove to be true ambassadors of Portugal, taking with them a huge set of Portuguese brands that integrate its construction worldwide.
