Martifer Solar signs turnkey contract to build 6.6MWp in Murcia, Spain

Martifer Solar, subsidiary of Martifer SGPS, has recently closed a turnkey agreement to build a 6.6MWp photovoltaic installation in the region of Murcia, Spain.
Martifer Solar will be responsible, under a turnkey contract, for the supply and installation of all the PV equipment, including the Smartracker©, the innovative solar tracker fully developed by the company. Once completed, Martifer Solar will also undertake the plant’s Operation and Maintenance.

The photovoltaic project, operated by a third-party, is due to be delivered in two stages. The construction of the first one – 2.8MWp- will be completed by December 2011, in a record time of just 8 weeks, while the second one – 3.8 MWp- is scheduled for the last quarter of 2012.

Alberto Rabanal, Martifer Solar Regional Manager for Spain and Latin America, states: "this project will show our versatility and capacity to adapt to any circumstances: despite the difficult macroeconomic framework, Martifer Solar is ready to go on offering competitive solutions based on our technical excellence and our worldwide experience in any kind of PV installations”.

The construction of the first stage of the project, due to start in November 2011 will involve a workforce of more than 80 people. Once completed, the photovoltaic installation will produce clean energy to supply more than 2,500 homes and will avoid the emission of near 4,000 CO2 tons to the atmosphere.
